Zoo Animal Themed Birthday Party

Zoo Animal Themed Birthday Party (G turns 4!)

Zoo animals: Tigers Lions and Bears!

G has been obsessed with farm animals since he was 2 years old.  For his 3rd birthday we went all out with a farm theme which he absolutely loved.  The day after his 3 year old party he told me he wanted a zoo animal theme party for his 4 year old birthday.  I thought it would pass.  It didn't.  So this year we had a zoo animal themed party and he loved it.

It was a pretty simple party with just family.  Brent's parents and brother were able to come up for the weekend which made it extra special.  Also, the forecast was predicting snow so we were concerned the roads would be too dangerous for travel.  It actually didn't snow until Sunday so everyone was able to make it!

The birthday boy's favorite zoo animals are cheetah, zebra and elephant.  He is super into riding his bike.  He is pretty much self sufficient at this age.  He can shower, get himself dressed, groom himself and even make his own peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  He loves chocolate, pirate stuff, Octonauts, and "reading" his dictionary.  He is very social and would take a play date with friends almost any day.  He is brave and caring.  I can't believe he is 4!

He is saying, "Zoo!" here.  I made this out of cardboard and a safari book of photos.

I found these animal drawings at a sweet old lady's garage sale in California.  I just made a banner and glued them on.  They were perfect for a 4 year old party.  I didn't want the animals to look too babyish.

G requested yellow cake with chocolate frosting.
Frosted animal cookies and sprinkles for the top.
Poor zebra!

In lieu of birthday hats we made our own animal noses out of egg cartons.

Baby Boy #2 (Sneak Peek)

Look at this cutie!  This is a profile of his little mouth, nose and perfect round head.  I can't wait to meet him.  These were taken at 18 weeks.

Here are his sweet tiny feet!

I just hit 20 weeks this week.  The half way point.  He is the size of a banana.  I have my energy back and I am feeling almost normal.  I've been pretty sick but not quite as bad as with G.  I contribute that to the fact that Mr. G keeps me on a pretty tight schedule.  No real sleeping in for this momma.  Whereas during the first pregnancy I had that luxury.  We eat breakfast every day at 7am and we never miss our 9am snack time.  I have found eating an egg everyday really helps with providing my body the protein it needs.  Most mornings we try to take a walk around downtown.  I crave the fresh air and the walk curbs my morning sickness plus it is good exercise for G and I.  I gained no weight at all on my second check up but don't worry by the third I gained 7 pounds!  My belly seemed to pop out a lot quicker this go round.  Also, I felt this little guy kick at 16 weeks which was very cool.  I love this stage of pregnancy.  It is obvious I am pregnant, my husband is realizing this is really happening, G can't stop kissing my belly and talking to the baby, we finally know the sex so I can get to planning, all is well.

Baby #2 Gender Reveal

We spent this past weekend at Lake Tenkiller here in beautiful Oklahoma.  You could say we were camping, if you call a luxury cabin with full amenities camping!  We were with 5 other couples from our small group.  We were very warmly hosted by the parents of one of our small group members. We divided up the meals and had no agenda the whole weekend.  It was fabulous!

Since we had an ultrasound for baby#2 on Friday we decided to do the reveal with all our friends on Saturday night.  I had Kalico Kitchen whip up some sugar cookies and ice them according to the gender of the baby.  Of course, blue being a boy and pink being a girl.  We all wanted to be totally surprised and it worked.  We were able to transport the cookies the entire road trip and wait a whole day and a half without peeking.

Before it got too late Saturday night we all went on the front lawn to find out the mystery.  Everyone had to vote either boy or girl by choosing a corresponding color water balloon.  Whatever side won got to pelt the other team with their balloon.  We also had a little silly string in the mix.

So the moment we were all waiting for...

We were so happy to celebrate with our small group.  It was a wonderful evening.  I was hoping for a little girl but in my heart of hearts I knew it was going to be a little boy.  Hooray for brothers and the fact that I saved all of G's clothes!

Our blue teeth!!!  By the way, Brent and I just happened to be wearing blue - perfect!

Valentine's Day Card 2014

Shannon Cunningham took these beautiful photos.  We know her from our Northern California days.  We were so pleased when she relocated to Oklahoma and was able to do a big family photo shoot with Brent's side of the family last Thanksgiving.

I designed the card.  I'm curious this year if our card will include our new little man or not?  His due date falls right around Valentine's Day.  Time will tell.
