Nitty Gritty on Grant - Month 5

You sleep on your belly now
You are taking longer naps which really helps mommy
You are smiling and interacting with strangers
Laughing and chuckling out loud!
You like staring at us when we eat
You smile during bath time
Your eye color is now officially dark brown
You had cradle cap for a while but that has all cleared up thanks to a little baby oil
Weighing in at almost 17 lbs
You interact and play well with others
Coo and make noises for hours
Slober and suck one or two fingers - bibs are a must
Razzing is your new thing
Finally you are interested in your floor gym
Somehow you can get your knees all the way under your body
Held a baby spoon, sat at the dinner table, and drank water from an adult cup
Ate rice cereal for the first time. Gobbled it up like you had been eating it your whole life

Nitty Gritty on Grant - Month 4

People tell mommy and daddy that you are a "Thinker"
Arching on your side is a daily fav
You squeal in delight -- This is one of the best sounds around!
We call you "The Drool Monster"
You are a smile factory
When leaned up against the couch cushion you sit up well
Still quiet in bath
You have discovered toys --- pat at toys near you
Will sit and listen to 2 short books
5 o'clock forward you are Mr. Fussy Pants
Your favorite noise is the sound of someone brushing their teeth
Lift your eyebrows just like daddy
Love to watch ceiling fan, it really calms you
You are checking out your hands these days
Prefer belly for playtime rather than back
You like it when mama sings patty cake :)

Nitty Gritty on Grant - Month 3

This month you have been up to the following:

Tracking very well with your eyes
Recognize mom and dad's faces (enter smiley faces here)

You laugh and talk in your crib during the morning time

You have stable head control
Sleep better at naps
Distracted by sounds: neighbor baby crying, dump truck, etc.
Crinkly paper lover
No more swaddle, you have graduated to a sleep sack
Brown specs in your eyes
Grip mama's fingers
Love movement - cry in car when stopped but silent when moving
Definitely a morning person
Get your floor exercises in everyday

Nitty Gritty on Grant - Month 2

You have been changing at a rapid pace.

Here are a few things we have noticed...

• You love cooing and making all kinds of noises especially in the morning hours
• At bath time your favorite part seems to be licking the bath water
• You have very loud bodily functions :)
• You are figuring out how to suck your fingers and thumb
• Lullabies are still a favorite - "Hush Little Baby" is on your hit list, "Rock a Bye Baby" makes it in the top 10.
• You are responding more to mom and dad's voice
• You can suck on the pacifier but have trouble keeping that thing in
• Daddy gives you a bottle, which you almost hold by yourself ;)
• Smiles are popping up
• That neck of yours is getting stronger and stronger
• Grunts are another way in which you communicate
• Some say you look like Mr. Magoo
• The top of your head is full of peach fuzz with a ring around the back of light red hair
• Your eyes are still blue
• You are sleeping well at night, you fight the swaddle but it sure does help you sleep soundly

Nitty Gritty on Grant - Month 1

Only 4 weeks have gone by but we have learned so much about you.  We could never express the gratefulness we feel for God giving us you.  We pray for you and hope we are able to raise you well.  You have already brought us so many laughs and fun memories.  We really like being your mom and pop.

A few things that we or others have noticed about you...

When the Dr. pulled you out of mommy he said you look like a "little toddler" 
You have big hands and some think you will be a good piano player
You are almost the length of 2 footlong Subway sandwiches.  Our guess is you will be tall.  Your name Grant means "a great man; tall"
Your hair color is a bit deceiving.  It is almost like you are a chameleon.  Is it red, or blonde, or brown or strawberry blonde???
Dark blue is your eye color but mommy thinks it will change to brown or hazel
Your skin is beautiful.  You have a very nice pink tone which turns very red when you are upset.
Big feet and long toes like daddy (tree frog toes is what Gramie calls them)
Very serious - you furrow your brow at us quite often
You have tracked very well with your eyes since day one
Chubby cheeks
Many people say you look like daddy
You rolled over in your first week (back to tummy) then you did it again your forth week
You are a multiple sneezer
You really like to grunt sometimes :)
Umbilical cord stump fell off at 3 weeks and 3 days old 
Perfectly shaped head which looks super cute in hats
You like to ponder and stare, we like to imagine what you are thinking
Great first well baby check
When it is time to eat you are ready to eat!  Just like mom and dad you love you some grub
You have just started to smile when you are fading off to sleep 
Daddy calls you Houdini cause you bust out of your swaddle
